LAST POST

I've completed my ninth grade year which is a great relief. I thought I was not going to like this school because of the size, but I was wrong. I learned to cope with the small amount of students here and at times I think it's better when the school is smaller. All of the teachers were better than I thought they were going to be and were of much help this year. I made new friends and learned new things that are going to be valuable some day. Hopefully most of my friends come here next year because I know many want to move.

b. It was quite fun but also a lot of work had to be done.
c. We did finish the project.
i. We finished the project because everyone cooperated and did what they had to do. We worked and try to finish everything when it had to be done.

What advice would you give to next year’s students?
They should not slack off when they are working on the project. Do not go to myspace or do other stuff that doesn't relate to the project because its going to waste time.
iii. I didn't go to myspace or play games while I was in class. I might've emailed friends but it was only like one or two times.
d. It was good working with the teamembers in my group. We all worked together and tried to help each other when we needed help. What we did was not slack off and be rude to each other.

1. Do you believe you will finish the final project? Why or why not?
I believe me and my group members will finish the final project by the time it is due. We have tried to finish all the exercises and assignments we need to do, although we have a few unfinished.

2. Is your group working as a team? Why or why not?
My group has been working as a team these past days. We all try to help each other when one of us needs help. We share ideas and disccuss them together.

3. What can your group do to be more effective?
We can begin working a little faster so that all the assignments given can be finished. We need to communicate a little more and meet outside technology class.

Life is cool up to this point. I haven't had any serious problems that have caused a bad effect on me. I haven't been stressed lately and I going out to places with some old friends which I enjoy.
Right now school is alright. I have been trying hard to do good in school and get the grades I want to have. We are now in the fourth quarter and school is about to end in about two more months. I have to give it my best in every class to do well in them.

I have learned how to listen to other people's feelings and ideas. I think my group is working as a team although there are times where we slack off and can't concentrate. Even so, we have been working hard to keep up the work and trying to finish the project. I am more attentive to what others have to say and comment on. I talk more so my ideas and comments can be heard as well. Although our team gets along really well and there are no problems, it has to improve on getting better at working and helping one another. Our project is almost done and I do believe our project will be completed by the due date.

I feel my group is working as a team. We have been working together without any troubles or arguments. I have changed in a way that I now have to express out what I think and have to cooperate more with the group. This team needs to forget and leave behind the problems they had with members of the team(if any). They have to finish their part of work so none of us get mad or frustrated. I think that our group will finish by March 27th because so far they are doing what they are supposed to do and everyone gets along with each other.

I think my group is working as a team. Sometimes we do slack off but we've learned how to come back together. I have changed in a way that I have to give and express some of my opinions and ideas to my group. Everyone needs to cooperate and be responsible to finish their part of work. All of us need to leave our problems with each other behind and focus on finishing our project. If we work hard and work together I think we will be able to finish thi project by March 27th.

They are logical kinesthetic, musical, and interpersonal. Logical means people think by reasoning. Kinesthetic means people think through body sensations. Musical people think via rhythyms and melodies. Last, interpersonal people think by bouncing ideas off other people.

2.) List 3 of your weakest learning styles. Write down what each of them means:
Spatial and intrapersonal. Spatial people think in images and pictures. Intraperosnal people think deeply inside of themselves.

3.) From questions 1 and 2, list three things that you can imrove the way you learn. Also list three things that teachers can do to help you learn better in class.
I can improve the way I learn by starting to get better at communicating better verbally. I dont really know what teachers can do to help us understand things better.

1) Describe what you did for the activity.
I was taking tests and other challenges that colored people had to go through in order to vote.

2) What point was the activity trying to make?
The point it was trying to make was that colored people or poor whites had to go through various obstacles like tests and poll taxes in order to vote. The tests were made so they could fail even if they knew the answers. Even if they passed all of that, some of them would get killed by the sheriffs.

3) What did you learn from the activity?
Voting back then was something extremely hard to do then what you have to go through now. We are lucky we don't have to go through that now.

1.) What did you do well in first semester?
Something I did well the first semester was how to create a webpage on Dreamweaver. I was also quite good on using Excel.

2.) What did you do poorly in the first semester?
I did poorly on projects that required the use Flash. I forgot sometimes what tools to use or how to create effects.

3.)What do you need to do to get even better grades 2nd semester?
I will need to pay closer attention to what is being taught, refer to the guide books, and try to do even better.

One difficult yet interesting thing I learned in this semester was how to use Flash. It was sort of difficult because I never used it before and all of the frames confused me. Also, how to do the tweens and effects on letter or pictures was quite difficult. Although it was hard, it was very interesting. I learned how to use someting new that I will know how to use if someday needed and know how animations are sometimes made.

i. Do you think this activity had any effect on how the 9th graders treated each other in the past week? Why or why not?
~I think this activity did some effect on how the 9th graders treat each other. We got to know a little better other people we didnt even know. We also got to do something nice for someone else which most of us barely do.

ii. What do you think would happen if this activity involved the 10th and 11th graders?
~If this activity involved 10th and 11th graders, we would probably get along better. We would get know each other a little more and we wouldnt look at each other like strangers.

iii. What do you think would happen if we continued this activity for the rest of the year?
~ If this continued for the rest of the year, most of us would get along alot better. Most of us would be nice to one another.

Well its getting warmer, which is cool, although I like the cold weather. Im getting ready to start my weekend which is going to be great. Imma go to my cousins 15s on Saturday and Im going to take one of my very good friends that I havent seen for like 3 months. Im also going to start preparing for the finals that are going to come up very soon and are not going to be easy. Hopefully Sunday I can go out with some other friends to go see a movie even though we still dont know which one to see.

1.)Who do you think causes the achievement gap?
I think a little bit of everything contributes. First, not going to preschool does give you a disadvantage. Second, parents are sometimes not involved in what their children do or how they are doing in school. They may show no interest in their childrens education which may cause the kids to kind of give up on doing good in school. Also the teachers are lowering their level of expectations on some of those who were bad in the beginning but wanted to change after. Last,maybe culture may have a role in this as well.

2.) What can students do to close the gap?
What students can do to close this gap is to focus in school and worry about everything else outside of school. Also to leave al the "cool" thing aside and try to be competitive.

3.)What can parents do?
Parents could put their kids in preschool when they are 3 to 4 years old. This would give them an advantage in school and would probably be ahead. Also to be involved in what their children do at school and how they are doing. Last, they should see themselves as teachers and show interest in what their kids are doing.

4.)What can teachers/schools do?
Teachers should not lower their levels of expectations on some students because they may be bad in the beginning but they may turn out to want an education after. Also, school should give everyone a chance to succeed.

1.What did you think of Mr.Hayden?

He seemed to be a quiet guy and a nice person. I agreed with some things he said like the Iraq war being similar to the Vietnam war because its a war that is unecessary and too many soldiers are being killed.

2.Tom Hayden does not think of himself as a Civil Rights leader. Do you see him as one? Why or why not?
I do see him as a leader because he tried to stop a war that was being lost. He also registered a few blacks to vote and was a anti-civil war activist.

3. Tom Hayden feels the leaders are not as important. What does he mean by that?

I think Mr.Hayden means that a movement can not be done without the help of the people. For a movement to move forward and be succesful they not only need a leader but they need the people because without them there is no movement.

Today has been an ok day. It isn't the best one but everything has gone out fine. I was feeling sick in the morning but I seem well now. I'm getting myself ready for christmas and maybe Im going to put up my tree this Saturday. Im also going to see Tom Hayden today in Mr.Carr's class because hes going to speak to us. I am really eager to see him. Maybe I'll also go to the baketball game to cheer up the team. Maybe they'll win this time.

I think the sign "Stop hurting yourself" means to stop hurting ourselves. It says to not do things or actions that will affect not only us but the people that surround us. I think Mr.Phsu put it up there because many kids now have problems that are not known and he wants to remind us to not hurt ourselves.
Well yesterday my classmate drank and had severe consequences. First she only threw up but it got worse after because she was unconscious. Well she hurt herself because she put her life in danger and had to go to the hospital. Others were affected because we didnt relly know what to do and were right there when it all happened.

1.) I agree with what Jon said " Failure is how we learn" because that is how we learn from our mistakes and know the next time to do it correctly.

2.)One of the biggest failures in my life was telling some of my personal things to people including some "friends". It made me realize that not all people are actually friends. I have learned not to trust people until I really know them.

3.) I think Mr.Hsu is making us read this because some of us may need to improve but we can get something out of it, that we learn from our mistakes.

Three things I have learned in this class is to do flash commercials and how you make them. Also on how to make a page and how its helpful to know the code. Last,I have learned on how to use the computer better and how you can make programs like powerpoint more exciting.

Three things that I want to learn in this class is learn about new programs that are helpful. Also, learn new things in the computer that I didnt know hwo to use before. And last on how to do drawings besides using the flash program.

Well today all the classes were okay. They weren't boring and we did some kind
of activity. I went trick or treting on Halloween which was fun. I just went on
my PJ's. Now I have a lot of candy. This weekend maybe Im going to a homecoming
that my friend invited me to. Im also probably going to go to a party that they
hold every year.

The theme of the movie is just for you to help out people that need help and you should be nice. They are just trying to make other people be good and kind.

2) Which character do you find the most interesting? Why? I found Trevor to be the most interesting. He was funny and was detrmined on doing something for someone.

3) If you were to write the movie script for Pay It Forward, Part 2, what kinds of characters would you have in the movie? What would you have them do to “Pay It Forward?" I would have people that are from different ages and different ethnicities. I would make them help people who are in need.

My life experience has been different from theirs because I have never gone to jail and Im not exactly in any gang. My father has not been on drugs or gone to jail. Something I can do to stay on the path to college is to not hang around with any bad friends that are bad influences to me. Also I have to really focus on learning in school and trying my best at everything.
